Europa Nostra Germany opens new office in Potsdam
On 19 January 2024, Europa Nostra Germany, the national representation of Europa Nostra, inaugurated its new office in Potsdam in the former Civil Cabinet House, Allee nach Sanssouci 6. The location of the new office was secured thanks to an agreement with the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg (SPSG). As one of the major cultural institutions of the palaces and gardens and custodian of an important UNESCO World Heritage Site, the SPSG is an important partner for Europa Nostra Germany.
Europa Nostra Germany already holds close ties with civil society associations in Potsdam, such as Winzerberg e.V., which was awarded a European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award in 2018. The collaboration with Winzerberg e.V. and the broader Potsdam cultural heritage network will now be reinforced. A joint event is already planned for on 13 June 2024 at Winzerberg, with more details to follow soon.

With the inclusion of the Sisters’ House Ensemble in Kleinwelka/Bautzen on the list of7 Most Endangered Heritage sites in Europe in 2023 and the closer cooperation in the tri-border region of Lusatia, the Czech Republic and Silesia, Europa Nostra Germany has also set important new priorities under its new President Dr Uwe Koch”, stated Prof. Dr. Hermann Parzinger, Executive President of Europa Nostra and President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation.
As the national representation of Europa Nostra, Europa Nostra Germany is committed to the cross-border exchange of cultural heritage associations and cooperation for cultural heritage with European or cross-national dimensions, not least in continuation of the impulses of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
Talks are underway with the city of Potsdam to find new ways to strengthen civic engagement. From Potsdam, Europa Nostra Germany will actively promote formats for European dialogue on cultural heritage together with Europa Nostra’s Member and Associate Organisations and other institutions and stakeholders in Germany and beyond.
