Europa Nostra presents activities to cultural delegation from Poland

On 19 September in Brussels, Europa Nostra’s Vice-President Piet Jaspaert presented the activities of Europa Nostra to a delegation from the Polish region of Pomorskie.

As part of a study visit organised for representatives of the Polish cultural sector by the region’s EU office, Piet Jaspaert outlined Europa Nostra’s three pillars of action: promoting excellence, lobbying for heritage and saving endangered heritage at European level. In his presentation, he also highlighted outstanding heritage achievements from Poland as well as this year’s Grand Prix winners of the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards.

The delegates were very interested in getting involved in Europa Nostra’s extensive European network of heritage organisations. They were particularly impressed by the results of the report Cultural Heritage Counts for Europe (whose Executive Summary is also available in Polish). With its compelling concluding analysis, the report helped to cement their commitment to enhancing the rich cultural heritage of the Pomorskie region.

Europa Nostra’s Vice-President also presented the Berlin Call to Action: “Cultural Heritage for the Future of Europe” and the participants were eager to add their signatures.

The Polish delegation also met with representatives of other networks and initiatives active in the field of culture including representatives from the European Commission and the European Parliament.
