MERITA – Concert by Kandinsky Quartet at the ARTE Music Academy in Nicosia

On the occasion of the International Music Day, the second MERITA concert organised by Europa Nostra will take place on the evening of 21 June 2024 at the ARTE Music Academy in Nicosia (Cyprus).

The Kandinsky Quartet will offer a reflection on peace through the eyes of poets and composers. Inspired by current events, the repertoire will include musical pieces by Dmitri Šostakovič and recitations of literary excerpts from poets who have lived through the atrocities of conflicts. By interweaving music and poetry, the young ensemble from Vienna (Austria) aims to inspire a deeper consideration of the importance of peace and a collective questioning of the reasons behind any conflict.

The concert in Nicosia is organised within the frame of MERITA, an online and offline platform that increases the visibility and circulation of 38 young European string quartets, which is co-funded by the European Union. Europa Nostra is one of the 16 members of the consortium coordinated by Le Dimore del Quartetto.

The concert in Nicosia, kindly hosted by Arte Music Academy, is organised by Europa Nostra in close collaboration with the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Nicosia.

This concert is open to the public upon registration by Wednesday 19 June 2024.
