MINIARE: The Art & Science of Manuscript Heritage

Europa Nostra UK is organising on 25 July 2024, from 18:30 to 19:30 (CEST), an online meeting to talk about the MINIARE project at The Fitzwilliam Museum (University of Cambridge).

The MINIARE project has revolutionised the understanding of manuscript heritage through next-generation scholarship and innovative protocols. With a focus on non-invasive methods that preserve the integrity of the originals, over 280 illuminated manuscripts from diverse cultures and historical periods were analysed. The interdisciplinary approach, spanning physical sciences, arts and humanities, has been instrumental in advancing understanding of Europe’s shared heritage.

The project received a European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards in 2023, in the category Research.

Europa Nostra UK will be joined by Dr Suzanne Reynolds, Senior Curator, Manuscripts and Rare Books, and Dr Flavia Fiorillo, Research Associate, Scientific Research, of The Fitzwilliam Museum who will explain this project, the insights they have gained, and the possibilities for future investigation.
