Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of Europa Nostra Country Representation in Romania signed
The Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of our long-standing member organisation, Pro Patrimonio Foundation – on behalf of other Romanian NGOs – as the Europa Nostra Country Representation in Romania, was signed by our Executive President, Hermann Parzinger, and the President of Pro Patrimonio, Șerban Sturdza, on 8 October in Bucharest, on the occasion of the Europa Nostra General Assembly 2024.
“The work of Pro Patrimonio is highly appreciated both inside and outside Romania. Your organisation has an important role as initiator, activator, accelerator, federator and innovator within the wider heritage movement dedicated to saving Romania’s heritage, built and natural, tangible and intangible. We look forward to the further strengthening of our vital partnership with Pro Patrimonio, which will also help us to deepen our network and collaboration with other civil society organisations committed to cultural heritage in Romania, and they are very numerous,” stated Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailović, Secretary General of Europa Nostra.
The Executive President of Europa Nostra, Hermann Parzinger, thanked all Romanian NGOs who worked hard with Europa Nostra to make our Summit in Bucharest so successful: “We applaud the Manifesto to save Romania’s heritage which was adopted on the occasion of our Summit in Bucharest by over 60 heritage NGOs active in Romania. This document explains the rationale and proposes priority needs and corresponding action to be undertaken by the authorities. Indeed, fully and duly integrating cultural heritage into the citizens’ daily lives is a responsible gesture towards our society, our economy, our environment and our planet,” he emphasised.
