(Re-) Appointments to the Council and other governing bodies of Europa Nostra made in Bucharest

The Europa Nostra Council Meeting and General Assembly 2024 were held on the morning of 8 October at the Carol I Central University Library in Bucharest in the frame of the European Cultural Heritage Summit 2024. On this occasion, important (re-) appointments to the Governance of Europa Nostra were made.

Hermann Parzinger (Germany) was re-appointed for a last term of three years as Executive President of Europa Nostra. Jimmy Jamar (Belgium), former Head of our Brussels Office, was appointed for a first term of three years as Executive Vice-President of Europa Nostra. Jimmy Jamar succeeds Guy Clausse, who obtained the position in 2018. Guy Clausse was appointed Vice-President and member of the Board in Bucharest.

Jacek Purchla (Poland) and Alexander zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn (Germany) were re-appointed as Vice-Presidents of Europa Nostra.

Graham Bell (UK), Laurent Levi-Strauss (France), Tapani Mustonen (Finland), Araceli Perada Alonso (Spain) and Paolo Vitti (Italy) were re-appointed as members of the Board of Europa Nostra.

Last but not least, Bertrand de Feydeau (France) was re-appointed as Chair of the Internal Advisory Committee for a second term of three years.

The General Assembly (re-appointed) 17 new members of the Council of Europa Nostra nominated by Member Organisations and Country Representations for a mandate of 3 years (in alphabetical order): Simone Beck (Switzerland), Kersti Berggren (Sweden), Páll Bjarnason (Iceland), Gaianè Casnati (Italy), Christian Hanus (Austria), Ole Rikard Høisæther (Norway), Xavier Marin (France), Francesca Moncada (Italy), Sorina Neacsu (Romania), Bertrand Perret (France), Hortensia von Roten (Switzerland), Hristo Smolenov (Bulgaria), Dimitri Stevens (Belgium), Pter Svoboda (Czechia), Lesia Voroniuk (Ukraine), Marc Wingens (the Netherlands) and Marianne Ytterdal (Norway).

The General Assembly also (re-appointed) 12 new members of the Council of Europa Nostra nominated by Individual Members for a mandate of 3 years (in alphabetical order): Rossana Bettinelli (Italy), Hildebrand de Boer (the Netherlands), Lydia Carras (Greece), Sébastien de Courtois (France), Naciye Doratli (Cyprus), Paul Dujardin (Belgium), Claus-Peter Echter (Germany), Yonca Erkan (Turkey), Gabor Mester de Parajd (France), Robert J. Quarles van Ufford (the Netherlands), Attila Saghi (Hungary) and Sander Winckel (the Netherlands/Switzerland).

The General Assembly thanked the outgoing Council members: Koen van Balen (Belgium), Sofia Barroso F. de Araoz (Spain), Sara Robertson (formerly Crofts – UK), Seda Grigoryan (Armenia), Grete Horntvedt (Norway), Joop de Jong (the Netherlands), Muriel Joyeux (France), Monica Luengo (Spain), Carlota Marijuan Rodriguez (Spain), Natalia Moussienko (Ukraine), Helen Müller (Germany), Paul O’Brien (Ireland), Etienne Poncelet (France) and Maria Cristina Vannini (Italy).

Special thanks were extended to the outgoing Vice-President Piet Jaspaert (Belgium), who had been appointed to the position in 2015. Piet Jaspaert was awarded the Europa Nostra Medal of Honour in 2021 for his invaluable support to the organisation.

The General Assembly also appointed the Chair of the Internal Audit Committee, Enzo Unfer, a member of the Internal Audit Committee, Luisella Pavan-Woolfe, as well as the external Auditor.
